Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a telephone conversation with Foreign Minister of People’s Republic of China Wang Yi on Sunday, Turkmen Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
During the constructive talks, the foreign ministers of the two countries exchanged views on a wide range of issues regarding bilateral relations. The sides particularly focused on strengthening the mutual support between Turkmenistan and China in the framework of various regional and international organizations.
The diplomats paid special attention to the resuming and intensification of the meetings between the representatives of the state and private sector during the pandemic period.
The officials also considered pressing regional and international issues, including the consolidation of joint efforts on countering the novel coronavirus pandemic.
The heads of the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and the PRC also stated that due to the difficult global situation, the promotion of efficient mechanisms of scientific diplomacy gains current significance.
The Chinese side noted the timeliness of the adoption of the Turkmenistan’s Country Preparedness and Response Plan to Acute Infectious Disease.
Stating the importance and consistency of regular meetings in bilateral format and in the framework of international structures, the diplomats expressed the necessity of intensifying the mutually beneficial Turkmen-Chinese cooperation on key aspects of bilateral agenda.
