Turkmenistan Carries Out Around 2,500 Construction Projects Worth $37 Billion
The implementation of urban development projects, the integrated industrialization of the regions are aimed at the multi-vector development of the national economy and the private sector.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during a Cabinet of Ministers meeting on July 3 said that large-scale construction of buildings is being carried out at an accelerated pace and noted that around 2.5 thousand objects worth over $37 billion were under construction in the country during the first half of the year.

According to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency’s (TDH) report on Monday, huge investments in this important sector, a favorable investment climate created in the country, and effective measures of state support for domestic business have led to the success of urban development policies.

“We started construction of new cities and towns on a large scale and, despite the circumstances, we will continue this work,” President Berdimuhamedov said during the meeting, instructing relevant leaders to speed up the analysis of the situation in this sector and prepare a new program for the development of the industry for the 2021.

“Despite the negative impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the country's domestic and foreign economic activity, statistics show that the Government is taking effective measures to solve issues related to the global economy,” according to the TDH.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that according to the National Rural Development Program, over the past six months, investments in the amount of $1.3 billion manats have been spent in the country.

In the first half of the year, 14 large facilities were commissioned, housing with a total area of ​​509 thousand square meters, including high-comfort homes worth about 1 billion manats.

The implementation of urban development projects, the integrated industrialization of the regions are aimed at the multi-vector development of the national economy and the private sector.

Regarding the topic of preparing the State budget for the coming year, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that in the main financial plan of the country, it is necessary to include funds for the construction of housing for people in need in each etrap and city.

According to the statistics announced at the Government meeting, for January-June of the current year, the plan for the production of goods and the provision of services in the construction and industrial sector was completed by 112.8% with a growth rate of 118.9% compared to the same period last year.

In particular, in the Ministry of Construction and Architecture, the production plan for the first half of 2020 was completed by 107.7%. The growth rate was 107.4%.

Every year, the share of private firms - members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs in large-scale urban and rural development projects in the country is growing.

Achievements, accumulated experience and prospects of cooperation in the field of urban planning, architecture and the formation of urban infrastructure in modern Turkmenistan were demonstrated on May 25 during the 19th international exhibition White City of Ashgabat.

Currently, a powerful construction cluster has been created in the Ovadandepe industrial zone of Ahal velayat. Türkmendemirönümleri State Enterprise for the production of metal and reinforcement, a large aerated concrete plant, the factory for processing marble and granite of the Türkmenmermer Closed Joint-Stock Company, Türkmenaýnaönümleri enterprise for the production of glass are already operating at the industrial zone.

The list of products manufactured by modern complexes of the country's construction industry includes wall panels, reinforced blocks, slabs, cement, brick, expanded clay, non-metallic building materials, metal structures, reinforced concrete products, plastics and fiberglass pipes, which are characterized by high strength, earthquake resistance and improved operational characteristics.
