Turkmenistan Attends UNHCR Webinar on Statelessness Determination Procedures
Turkmenistan presently implements National Action Plan on reducing statelessness for 2019-2024.

A webinar on international best practices in statelessness determination procedures was held on Tuesday with the participation of the head of the Regional Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Central Asia Yasuko Oda and representatives of public associations, the press service of the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan said in a statement.

According to the press release, representatives of the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan, the Mejlis (Parliament) of Turkmenistan, the Supreme Court, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Healthcare and Medical Industry, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Justice and the State Committee on Statistics also attended the session.

During the webinar, the participants exchanged views on the achievements and positive experience of the international community in addressing important issues in the field of migration. In this regard, the officials noted the positive experience of Turkmenistan and its achievements in reducing statelessness.

The participants also underlined that relations of Turkmenistan with international organizations in the humanitarian sphere, including in the field of migration are regularly developing.

Turkmen delegation has held a video conference meeting with the participation of Yasuka Oda on July 7.

During the negotiations, the officials noted that Turkmenistan carries out systematic work on reducing statelessness and to this end, successfully implements the relevant National Action Plan for 2019-2024.
