In the first half of 2020, the transshipment of containers within the Trans-Caspian international transport route amounted to 6,538 TEU.

A new feeder ship service will be launched between Kazakhstan's Aktau port and Turkmenistan’s Turkmenbashi International Seaport, Kazakhstan's InBusiness website reported on Tuesday.

According to the report, the feeder ship will operate at least once a week.

In the port of Aktau, which is located on the Kazakh coast of the Caspian Sea, work is currently underway to attract new types of cargo transport services, one of which is the operation of the feeder vessel along the Turkmenbashi port-Aktau port-Turkmenbashi port route, the port authorities said in an interview with InBusiness website.

In the first half of this year, the transshipment of containers within the Trans-Caspian international transport route amounted to 6,538 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit), an increase of 950 TEU compared to the same period last year.

In April this year, Balkan feeder ship started operating between Azerbaijan’s Baku and Turkmenistan’s Turkmenbashi international seaports.

Aktau port is located on the east coast of the Caspian Sea and is meant for the international transportation of various dry cargoes, crude oil and oil products. The port includes an open space of nearly 80 thousand square meters and a roofed transit warehouse of 2 thousand square meters.
