Turkmenistan Intends to Open Its Logistics Center in Astrakhan Oblast

Consul of Turkmenistan in Russia’s Astrakhan city Guych Garayev held a meeting with Governor of Astrakhan oblast Igor Babushkin on Wednesday, Turkmen Foreign Ministry said in a press release.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Turkmen consul presented to the Governor a copy of the consular exequatur. The Governor wished success in his new diplomatic post for the benefit of the development of Turkmen-Russian relations.

The officials discussed the possibility of opening a logistics center for goods from Turkmenistan at the port special economic zone that is being created at the Olya seaport in Astrakhan oblast with a subsequent distribution function.

The sides also exchanged views on the main areas of constructive cooperation in many areas of mutual partnership. Willingness was expressed to develop relations with Astrakhan region in such areas as shipbuilding, education and cooperation in the Caspian Sea.

The parties also considered the issue of establishing direct flights between Turkmenistan and Astrakhan.
