The ROODELL company announced that starting November 2020, the ADM-Jizzakh factory in the Jizzakh Free Economic Zone starts the production of the latest models of Kia Seltos and K5, Uzbekistan Daily news outlet reported last week.
Presently, the construction of the plant in Jizzakh Free Economic Zone is in the final stage and preparatory work is underway for the installation of two production lines designed for the assembly of cars of different configurations.
At the first stage, the plant’s production capacity will be 25 thousand vehicles per year. At the second stage, by the end of 2022, as the lines with welding and body painting shops are put into operation, the annual capacity will increase to 100 thousand vehicles, according to the report.
“The CIS market has huge potential, as we see a growing interest in KIA cars,” said KIA Motors Russia & CIS Headquarters President Jin-Ha Kim. “It is one of the first major projects of KIA Motors Russia & CIS as a regional headquarters.”
The ADM-Jizzakh factory is initially marketed as a multi-brand – in the future, other world-famous brands may produce their cars here. The cars manufactured in Uzbekistan will be exported to CIS countries through partner dealer networks.
The K5 is Kia's new business-class sedan formerly known as the Optima. The The Kia Seltos is a 5 seater compact SUV launched in 2019.
