Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov on Thursday held a video conference meeting with the heads of the UN Agencies’ and international financial institutions’ representative offices in Turkmenistan.
The meeting participants discussed the key issues of cooperation and underlined the efficiency of joint plans and programmes, particularly in the areas of healthcare, education and culture.
Turkmen Foreign Minister noted the important contribution of all the foreign partners working in Turkmenistan, including the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator, representative offices of the UNDP, UNICEF, UNFPA, WHO, World Bank, Asian Development Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, in the process of resolving the pressing socio-economic issues.
The officials particularly discussed the importance of implementation of the plans and programmes on countering the acute infectious diseases, including timely vaccination, prevention and awareness rising measures. In this regard, the parties stated the necessity of uniting required resources and expertise for overcoming the economic consequences of the global pandemic.
The meeting participants also exchanged views on the promotion of cooperation in the area of digitalization, prevention of climate change and preservation of world cultural heritage.
