One of the key directions of the consistently pursued economic policy in Turkmenistan is to strengthen food security and ensure an abundance of food products in the country.
According to Türkmen Gündogary newspaper’s Thursday issue, Tebigy Ekin farm enterprise this year planted Gala variety of potato on 370 hectares out of 953-hectare land leased for 99 years.
The farmers have already harvested 4,811 tons of spring potatoes from the fields. Presently, the harvest of late-ripening potatoes, planted on 14 hectares, is underway. Over 196 tons of the crops have already been delivered to consumers.
In addition, Tebigy Ekin enterprise, located in the Charjev etrap of Lebap velayat, collects a rich harvest of other vegetable and melon crops throughout the year, including cucumbers, tomatoes, cabbage, eggplants, bell peppers, carrots, beets, watermelons, melons, pumpkins and mung beens.
Founded in 2019, Tebigy Ekin employs nearly 250 people engaged in the cultivation of the crops.
