Gazprom Increases Purchase of Natural Gas From Turkmenistan

Russia’s major energy company Gazprom during the first nine months of 2020 purchased 3.2 billion cubic meters of Turkmen natural gas, compared to 2.6 billion cubic meters in the same period of 2019, the online newspaper of the Oil and Gas Complex of Turkmenistan reported on Tuesday with reference to Interfax news agency.

During the period, the volume of gas purchases from Kazakhstan decreased from 8.2 billion cubic meters to 5.1 billion cubic meters.

Since the beginning of 2020, Gazprom has hardly bought any natural gas from Uzbekistan. During six months of 2020, the company reported zero imports from Uzbekistan. During the nine months of 2020, Gazprom received 20 million cubic meters of Uzbek gas. In 2019, Gazprom purchased 7.6 billion cubic meters of gas in Uzbekistan.

In July 2019, Gazprom signed a five-year contract to purchase natural gas from Türkmengaz (Turkmen Gas) State Concern (for the period through June 30, 2024).
