Turkmen officials and representatives of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Turkmenistan during an online meeting on Wednesday discussed organizational issues for launching a new joint project “Strengthening the institutional, statistical and information-technical capacity of the State Statistics Committee” between the UNDP and the State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan.
According to the TDH news agency’s report, on the eve of the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality, a package of bilateral documents was signed between the State Committee on Statistics and the representative offices of UN agencies in Turkmenistan, including on the launch of the aforementioned project.
Within the framework of the new project, during 2021-2023, joint work is planned to further strengthen the information and technical potential of Turkmenistan, a conceptual transition to the 2008 SNA methodology, as well as to increase knowledge in the field of statistical reporting for measuring the SDGs.
In addition, within the framework of the three-year project, activities will continue on the development and installation of software for the statistical business register, which will allow State Statistics Committee to apply a systematic approach to the implementation of digital solutions to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the process of collecting, processing and analyzing data.
