Turkmenistan Attends Workshop on Financing SDGs

Around 120 representatives from North and Central Asia (NCA) countries and UN agencies took part in a sub-regional workshop on an Integrated National Funding Framework (INFF) for post COVID-19 Sustainable Recovery and Implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The online seminar was held from January 21 to 27. UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) organized the training, Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan said in its Thursday press release.

During the seminar, the NCA countries – Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Tajikistan – exchanged views on their joint action plans to implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The participants of the event also exchanged experiences, plans and projects of national models for the implementation of the SDGs and their financing.

The training included 7 sessions, which covered a wide range of topics in the field of SDG implementation, including calculating costs associated with the SDGs, planning and budgeting the SDGs, capital markets and thematic bonds as sustainable financing instruments, country discussions of approaches and priorities for the implementation of INFF.

The Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific was established in 1947. The ESCAP serves as the United Nations’ regional hub promoting cooperation among countries to achieve inclusive and sustainable development.
