CIS Migration Services Share Experience

The 25th Meeting of Council of Heads of Migration Authorities of CIS member states was held in a videoconference format on Thursday, according to the website of the CIS Executive Committee.

The Council members exchanged information on the migration situation, changes in the national legislation in the field of migration and the law enforcement practice of the migration authorities of their countries, caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The meeting participants got acquainted with the experience of Belarus in exercising control over the entry, stay and departure of foreign citizens and stateless persons who arrived in the country to visit the Augustow Canal special tourist and recreational park, and adjacent territories.

The Kyrgyz official informed his counterparts about the experience in organizing labor border migration, and the representative of Azerbaijan - about the experience of the State Migration Service in organizing the activities of the Call Center.

A member of the Council from Uzbekistan briefed about the existing problems in the country’s migration sphere and measures taken to resolve them. In turn, Kazakh migration official acquainted the Council members on the automation of accounting for migration processes within the framework of the implementation of the Digital Kazakhstan State Program.

During the meeting, the Council members considered the progress in the implementation of the Interstate Program of Joint Measures to Combat Crime for 2019-2023 in the field of combating illegal migration and approved the Council's Work Plan for 2021 and the schedule of its meetings for 2021-2023.

The next meeting of the Council is scheduled to take place in the second half of this year in Belarus.
