Batch of China’s CoronaVac Vaccine Arrives in Turkmenistan
Due to the receipt of a sufficient amount of COVID-19 vaccines, the vaccination of risk groups is presently underway in the country.

Turkmenistan received a batch of COVID-19 vaccine, CoronaVac, developed by China’s Sinovac on Sunday, the official media of Turkmenistan reports.

The COVID-19 vaccines are currently stored at the Center for Public Health and Nutrition of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service of the Ministry of Healthcare and Medical Industry, and at the sanitary and epidemiological services in Ashgabat and the country’s velayats, according to the report.

The Turkmen media noted that all vaccines delivered to the country are stored in vaccine warehouses in compliance with the cold chain requirements, in accordance with the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF.

Due to the receipt of a sufficient amount of COVID-19 vaccines, the vaccination of risk groups is presently underway in the country.

Turkmenistan became the first country in Central Asia to officially approve the use of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine against the COVID-19.

In January of this year, Turkmenistan also approved the use of Russia’s second COVID-19 vaccine, EpiVacCorona, developed by the State Research Center for Virology and Biotechnology Vector. The country has also received the Chinese-made BIOwak vaccine.
