In accordance with the Law of Turkmenistan on Certification, the recognition of certification documents issued by foreign countries is carried out as follows:
- Documents confirming the quality and safety of products received outside of Turkmenistan are recognized in accordance with the international treaties of Turkmenistan.
- In the absence of international treaties, the recognition of documents confirming the quality and safety of products is carried out in the manner prescribed by the authorized body.
- If the imported products do not have regulatory documents on certification in force in Turkmenistan, registered by the authorized body, and a bilateral international agreement on mutual recognition of certificates of conformity has not been concluded, for the purposes of certification, the recognition and application of documents confirming the quality and safety of products from the manufacturer or certification body of a foreign state is allowed in accordance with the procedure established by the authorized body.
Regulatory documents for certification are normative documents containing rules, requirements, general principles, characteristics related to certain types of activities or their results and registered by the Turkmenstandartlary (Turkmen Standards) Main State Service.
