Turkmenistan Almost Doubled Its Exports to Kazakhstan in Jan-Apr

Turkmenistan in January-April 2021 increased its export to Kazakhstan by 99.2% compared to the same period last year, the Unions of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan (UIET) reported on Friday with reference to the data from the State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan.

The country reportedly increased its textile exports by 11.6 times and finished textile exports by 5.1 times. The export of chemical fibers, which are widely used in the modern textile industry, increased 11.9 times. Exports of other garments increased by 172.4%. The growth in the supply of Turkmen processed cotton products to Kazakhstan amounted to 346.5 times.

Since the beginning of the year, Turkmenistan doubled its export of fertilizers to Kazakhstan compared to the same period in 2020. The increase was achieved by increasing their production at the country's specialized enterprises. The export of mineral fuel from Turkmenistan to Kazakhstan increased by 155.2%.

During the four months of 2021, the export of Turkmen vegetables to Kazakhstan increased by 46.6% compared to the same period last year. Turkmen entrepreneurs also increased the supply of soap and other detergents to the neighboring country by 65.4%.

In turn, imports of Turkmenistan from Kazakhstan increased over the period by 6.9%. The main growth was in the import of furniture, electronic devices, products from stone, cement and plaster, as well as paper and cardboard.

During a telephone conversation on May 20, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Chairman of the Supreme Control Chamber of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin considered specific ways and forms of expanding bilateral trade relations.
