President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov within the framework of celebrations marking Ashgabat’s 140th anniversary on Tuesday took part in foundation laying ceremony of Ashgabat City, the large residential complex in the north of the capital.
The event was attended by the Chairman of the Mejlis of Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan, government officials, public organizations, and the media, the country’s official media reports.
The large-scale complex with a total area of 744 hectares will include over 200 facilities and buildings of different purposes, with special importance attached to the construction of smart houses and smart stops of public transport.
The new complex will include the buildings of the etrap hyakimlik (administration) and other state institutions, four kindergartens to accommodate 1200 children, four schools to accommodate 3000 children and a sports complex with a stadium with 5000 seats.
A multidisciplinary hospital, two polyclinics and two shopping and entertainment centers, shops, food outlets, a Mass Celebration Center, four multi-level parking lots, and branches of the Türkmenbaşy and Halkbank banks will also be built in the new complex.
The residential complex will include 180 luxury high-rise buildings, namely 12-35-storey buildings of eight types. In total, the buildings will contain 17, 836 apartments and will be able to accommodate more than 107 thousand inhabitants.
On the same day, the Turkmen President took part in the opening of 140 two-storey houses built in the Choganly residential area in the Bagtyyarlyk etrap of the capital.
