Kazakh President to Visit Turkmenistan in Second Half of 2021

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tleuberdi in a telephone conversation on Monday discussed the preparation for the upcoming visit of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev to Turkmenistan in the second half of 2021.

The foreign ministers exchanged views on implementation of the instructions of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev following their telephone conversations between in April and May of this year, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan said in its press release.

The parties also discussed preparations for the VI Caspian Summit scheduled to be held in Turkmenistan this fall.

The ministers agreed to continue work on strengthening trade and economic ties between the two countries.

In a telephone conversation in April 2021, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow invited his Kazakh counterpart Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to visit Turkmenistan in order to discuss relevant issues of bilateral cooperation and sign important agreements.

In a telephone conversation on May 20, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Chairman of the Supreme Control Chamber of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin considered specific ways and forms of expanding bilateral trade relations.
