Official Ashgabat does not confirm recent reports by the foreign media about the detention of foreign citizens with explosive devices near the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Kabul.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan in its press release issued on Saturday characterized the reports as ‘baseless’ and said the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Kabul does not have any information on the matter.

Some foreign media outlets, citing a message from the Indian newspaper Hindustan Times on Twitter, recently reported that two days ago, several Pakistani citizens with an improvised explosive device were detained near the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Kabul.

Turkmenistan continues to provide comprehensive support to the Afghan people in their quest for peace and economic development in Afghanistan. The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Kabul, and its consulates general in Herat and Mazar-i-Sharif operate as usual.
