Turkmen President to Visit Uzbekistan

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov will soon visit Uzbekistan. During an online government meeting on Monday, the Head of State instructed the Vice-Premier Esenmyrat Orazgeldiev, who is in charge of the agricultural issues and at the same time the Co-chair of Turkmen-Uzbek Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation, to ensure a high organizational level of the scheduled international events.

The Vice-Premier reported on the preparations for the upcoming meeting of the Turkmen-Uzbek commission, saying mutually beneficial agreements in different spheres will be reached at the meeting.

Following the report, Berdimuhamedov said Turkmenistan attaches great importance to the comprehensive expansion of international cooperation and good-neighborly ties and drew attention to the importance of proper preparation for the upcoming meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Uzbek intergovernmental commission.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov instructed the Vice-Premier to discuss with his Uzbek counterpart issues and agreements that will form the meeting’s agenda, and to agree on the holding next week of the upcoming meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission.

The Turkmen Leader said relevant documents will signed on reached agreements during his and accompanying government delegation’s visit to Uzbekistan, and instructed to ensure a high organizational level of the scheduled international events.

Uzbekistan’s foreign trade turnover with Turkmenistan in the January-July period of 2021 amounted to $351.9 million. Uzbekistan imported $250.9 million worth of Turkmen products, while exporting products worth nearly $101 million to Turkmenistan.
