Saudi Arabia Expresses Its Support For TAPI Gas Pipeline Project
The total length of the planned TAPI gas pipeline is approximately 1814 km.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia supports the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom to Turkmenistan Said Osman Ahmed Suweid said in his article published on Thursday on Neytralnyi Turkmenistan newspaper on the occasion of the Saudi National Day.

“The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia shares with Turkmenistan the vision of the importance of global energy stability and diversification of energy supplies to world markets through large-scale projects such as the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline,” the Ambassador said.

The diplomat also stressed that "the Kingdom is cooperating in this direction and supports this ambitious project, as it will have a significant positive impact on economic and social development."

The total length of the planned TAPI gas pipeline is approximately 1814 km. Its annual capacity is designed to supply up to 33 billion cubic meters of natural gas along the route from Galkynysh, the world’s second-biggest gas field, to Fazilka near the border with Pakistan in northern India.

India and Pakistan are each expected to buy around 14 bcm and the remaining 5 bcm will go to Afghanistan.
