The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, within the framework of his visit to Iran’s capital Tehran, held talks with the Minister of Petroleum of Iran Javad Owji on Tuesday.
The ministers discussed topical issues of interaction between the countries in the energy field, expressing the necessity of further intensifying the sectoral cooperation of the countries’ relevant entities, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said in its press release.
The parties highlighted the huge potential of Turkmenistan and Iran in the field of energy and expressed satisfaction with the mutual support of the sides to significant initiatives in this area within the framework of regional and international structures.
The visit of the Turkmen delegation, headed by Deputy Chairman of the Government, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov, to Tehran will last from October 26 to October 28. The 16th meeting of the Joint Turkmen -Iranian Commission on Economic Cooperation and political consultations between the countries’ foreign ministries will take place within the framework of the visit.
