The 26th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26) is an international forum that brings together heads of state and government from around the world to discuss and agree on joint steps to counter global warming.
Turkmenistan has initiated a number of proposals to counter one of the most serious global challenges, including proposals to open in Ashgabat a Regional Center for Technologies related to climate change in Central Asia, to develop a UN Water Strategy, a special UN Program for the Aral Sea Basin, to identify the Aral crisis as a separate area of the UN activity, as well as to preserve the ecological safety of the Caspian Sea.
Turkmenistan also successfully implements significant environmental projects to mitigate the impacts of the climate change. millions of tree seedlings are planted annually in the country. This year, Turkmenistan will plant 30 million trees.
