Two Checkpoints on Turkmen-Uzbek Border Resume Operation
On Thursday, the sides tested the work of the contactless exchange of trailers and semi-trailers of international cargo transportation in the neutral zone.

Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan agreed to restore the operation of Hojeyli-Koneurgench and Shavat-Dashoguz border checkpoints for freight transportation starting Friday, November 26.

On Thursday, the sides tested the work of the contactless exchange of trailers and semi-trailers of international cargo transportation in the neutral zone, the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan said in its press release.

The two border checkpoints were closed in 2020 after the introduction of restrictive measures due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. At the Uzbek-Turkmen border, only the Alat-Farab border checkpoint continued to operate.

The Ministry of Transport, State Customs Committee and Border Troops of the State Security Service of Uzbekistan together with the relevant ministries and departments of Turkmenistan are working to ensure that the above-mentioned checkpoints operate in strict compliance with sanitary and epidemiological norms.

The agreement on the checkpoints was reached during the online meeting of the Uzbek-Turkmen working group on transport and logistics last Thursday.
