Central Asian Countries, South Korea Consider Special Areas of Cooperation

Tajikistan’s capital Dushanbe hosted the 14th meeting of the Central Asia – Republic of Korea Cooperation Forum at the level of foreign ministers on Tuesday. The agenda of the meeting included discussions on the four special topics of cooperation – forestry, green energy, healthcare and digital technologies.

The meeting gathered the heads of the foreign ministries of the countries of Central Asian countries and South Korea. The Turkmen delegation was led by the Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said in its press release.

The forum participants also discussed issues of further fruitful cooperation between the countries of Central Asia and the South Korea, taking into account the consequences of the global pandemic.

In his speech, Rashid Meredov informed about the activities of Turkmenistan on all issues on the agenda of the meeting. He also highlighted the country's significant contribution to the development of a green economy, including the expansion of environmental protection systems in the energy and industrial sectors. The Turkmen Foreign Minister additionally stressed the importance of joint efforts in the healthcare sector, including in countering the COVID-19 spread.

In this regard, the top Turkmen diplomat stressed Turkmenistan's strong commitment to effective and meaningful participation in the Central Asia-Republic of Korea Cooperation Forum.

On the sidelines of the 14th Cooperation Forum, on November 29 in Dushanbe, the first Business Forum of Central Asian countries and South Korea took place online with the participation of the heads of the chambers of commerce and businesses of the participating countries.
