Ter Komelek Economic Society received its first harvest from its mushroom greenhouse, launched this year in the Vekilbazar etrap of Turkmenistan’s Mary velayat.

The 482-square-meter greenhouse has currently grown a high yield of champignons on the 150 square meters of the greenhouse, the country’s Rysgal newspaper reported on Monday.

A certain air temperature is maintained inside the greenhouse to provide sufficient darkness and humidity for the growth of the fungi.

The mushrooms are reportedly grown on compost prepared at the greenhouse. Compost is prepared by processing agricultural waste and is packed in bags of 14-15 kg. Sowings of champignons germinate in 60 days. The products are harvested within a month and sent to customers fresh.

The Head of the company Berdymyrat Atayev said “fresh mushrooms are in-demand products, and their compost is a quality fertilizer. Considering its very good effect growth and productivity of plants, we intend to launch the organic fertilizers production in the future”.

New enterprise designed to produce 1,200 tons of mushrooms annually is expected to soon open in Turkmenistan’s Ahal velayat.
