The Iranian Minister of Petroleum Javad Owji on Wednesday said the country signed 55 contracts worth $16.5 billion in the oil and gas sector during the past seven months, the IRNA news agency reports.

Focusing on measures taken by the Ministry of Petroleum during the past seven months, Owji highlighted the importance of the start of gas swap from Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan via Iran.

He said the gas swap deal helped to stabilize gas network in northeast of Iran and allowed the country to get through cold winter months without shortcomings.

The Petroleum Minister also informed that the volume of Iran’s gas condensate exports has increased two to three times.
