Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the Chairman of Halk Maslakhaty chamber of Turkmen bicameral parliament Milli Gengesh, in a telephone conversation with the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Wednesday discussed the further expansion of multifaceted cooperation between the two countries in the context of preparations for the upcoming visit of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Uzbekistan.
At the beginning of the talks, the Head of Uzbekistan congratulated Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on his 65th birthday, sincerely wishing him good health, well-being and success, peace and prosperity to the fraternal people of Turkmenistan, according to the Press Service of the President of Uzbekistan.
Mirziyoyev especially noted the great contribution of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the formation of modern Turkmenistan and increasing the authority of the state in the international arena, strengthening the Uzbek-Turkmen relations of friendship, good neighborliness and strategic partnership.
During the talks, the sides paid special attention to the promotion of joint projects of cooperation in the field of trade and industry, transport and logistics, energy, agriculture, as well as the intensification of interregional contacts and cultural and humanitarian exchange.
Mirziyoyev and Berdimuhamedov also exchanged views on topical issues of regional cooperation, including on the promotion of a lasting peace and the socio-economic reconstruction of Afghanistan.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov previously visited Uzbekistan in January this year while serving as the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan.
