Türkmendermansenagat Association's plant for the production of iodine in Bereket town of Turkmenistan’s western province of Balkan produced more than 4.9 million manats worth of products during the first half of this year.
The plant's environmentally friendly products are in high demand not only in the domestic market, but also abroad, the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan reported reported on Wednesday.
The annual capacity of the plant is 250 million iodine sticks, 50 million iodine pencils and 500 thousand dental tampons.
The company's products are used in inpatient facilities, as well as in emergency departments.
Iodine is used as an antiseptic, biosensor testing and screening, and for household purposes.
Türkmendermansenagat Association is owned and operated by the Ministry of Healthcare and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan.
