Turkmenistan allows Turkmen freight trucks with drivers to carry out international cargo transportation, Türkmenawtoulaglary (Turkmen Road Transport) Agency announced on Thursday.
“Drivers performing international cargo transportation by road must meet qualification and professional requirements,” the statement added.
This new decision allows Turkmen trucks with drivers to leave and arrive in Turkmenistan through the Turkmenbashi International Seaport checkpoint, as well foreign trucks with drivers to transit Turkmenistan through this checkpoint.
In addition, drivers of foreign trucks with drivers can also enter Turkmenistan through the Altyn Asyr, Artyk, Sarakhs, and Farap checkpoints to deliver or pick up cargo at the railway stations or squares nearest to the checkpoints, and at Turkmenbashi International Seaport.
Turkmenistan has allowed transit of foreign freight trucks with drivers from Uzbekistan to Iran and vice versa starting June 1, setting a number of requirements for the transit of goods through its territory.
