Turkmenistan Ready to Cooperate With Kazakhstan on North-South Corridor’s Creation
The sides discussed issues of deepening cooperation between the seaports of Aktau, Kuryk and Turkmenbashi.

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov during talks with his Kazakh counterpart Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in Astana on Saturday said Turkmenistan is ready to work with Kazakh side to create a North-South transport corridor along the eastern coast of the Caspian Sea, leading to the Indian Ocean and the Persian Gulf.

In particular, there are plans to create a powerful and modern infrastructure, which would ensure the integration of transport systems of Central Asia and access of the region's countries to European and Asian main traffic flows, Berdimuhamedov said, the official Turkmen media reports.

The sides agreed to take joint measures to bring the railroad Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran to full capacity.

In this regard, the parties discussed issues of deepening cooperation between the seaports of Aktau, Kuryk and Turkmenbashi.

Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov attended the CIS and Central Asia-Russia summits in Astana on Friday.
