The residence of the ambassador of the United States of America in Turkmenistan hosted a reception to celebrate the 247th anniversary of US Independence on Friday.
The event was attended by the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, government officials, heads of diplomatic missions, representative offices of international organizations in Ashgabat, the media, and local entrepreneurs.
Minister Meredov expressed confidence in further strengthening bilateral relations and extended congratulations on the occasion of Independence Day.
In his speech, U.S. Ambassador Matthew Klimow stated that the United States is proud of the bridges that it has built with Turkmenistan over 31 years. “Our partnership is held to restore the ancient Silk Road cultural sites, fight climate change, promote foreign investment, and most important of all build people-to-people ties”, the diplomat said.
The theme of this year’s celebration was American West. The reception proceeded with a buffet and a performance by the popular American country music singer, songwriter Jeffrey Steele.
