The Turkmen delegation plans to visit the Netherlands this year to hold bilateral meetings with top Dutch agri-food companies, exchange valuable experiences, and learn about the latest innovations and practices in agriculture, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Belgium announced on Tuesday.
A delegation of six leading Dutch agri-food companies, led by East-West Trade, visited Turkmenistan to strengthen bilateral economic ties, in the begining of the December last year. The mission focused on enhancing collaboration in the agri-food sector, sharing advanced technologies, and broadening partnership opportunities. This visit followed a successful agri-forum held in Amsterdam last year, where Turkmenistan showcased its agricultural potential.
Throughout the visit, the delegation engaged in fruitful meetings with officials from Turkmenistan's state agencies and the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan (UIET), which facilitated the discussions. They explored potential avenues for bilateral cooperation and identified specific areas for agricultural collaboration.
Roundtable discussions held with Turkmen companies and government representatives addressed key aspects of cooperation and outlined actionable steps for joint projects. During the negotiations, both sides confirmed their readiness to develop a long-term partnership, including possible public-private partnerships (PPP). They placed special emphasis on cooperation in the horticultural sector, viewing it as a key area for ensuring food security and the rational use of water resources.
Additionally, the delegation toured various agricultural enterprises in Turkmenistan to observe local farming methods and evaluate the feasibility of integrating advanced Dutch technologies.
