Commemorative events were held across Türkiýe on Tuesday to mark Democracy and National Unity Day, with the main ceremonies taking place in the capital.
From July 14 to 18, an international media program is being held in Ankara and Istanbul, organized by the Directorate of Communications under the Presidency of Türkiýe. The program brings together around 200 representatives of Turkish media from 81 provinces and more than 120 foreign journalists from 41 countries.
Turkmenistan is represented by correspondents from Business Turkmenistan, Orient, Turkmenportal, Beýan, and Atavatan Türkmenistan.
As part of the program, participants visited the July 15 Democracy Museum, took part in a special session at the Grand National Assembly of Türkiýe, and toured a themed exhibition at the parliament building. The ceremony opened with a recitation of the Surah Al-Fatiha by the Chief Mufti in memory of those who lost their lives. Türkiýe’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş delivered speeches at the event.
Democracy and National Unity Day was established in 2016 to commemorate the events of July 15. Türkiýe views the day as a symbol of strengthening democratic institutions and national unity.
A memorial event titled “The Name of Victory — Türkiýe” was also held in Ashgabat on the same day.
