The first Caspian Economic Forum will be hosted in Turkmenistan on August 12 in the Avaza National Tourist Zone located at the east side of the Caspian Sea. The meeting is considered an important step in further strengthening regional cooperation in the context of the Convention on Legal Status of Caspian Sea signed by the heads of five Caspian-littoral states at the Caspian Summit on 12th August 2018 in Aktau, the Republic of Kazakhstan.

At the Summit in 2018, the Presidents of the Caspian states also adopted a communiqué which reflects the initiative of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to hold first Caspian Economic Forum in 2019 in Turkmenistan. The event was meant to become a vital link in the process of further strengthening of the cooperation in the Caspian Sea region.

The Forum will provide opportunities for discussion of issues related to the development of trade-economic and transport cooperation, including creation of conditions for large scale projects. The coordination center for the preparation and holding of the Caspian Economic Forum is also working on programs for holding international conferences, as well as the Caspian Exhibition of Innovative Technologies.
