President of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) Gianni Infantino will visit Turkmenistan on Thursday, the official Turkmen media reported on Tuesday.
As part of the tour, Infantino will visit Turkmenistan on Tuesday to discuss the development of soccer, or "the game of millions," with Turkmen government officials and the National Football Federation of Turkmenistan.
The upcoming visit of Gianni Infantino is expected to create new opportunities to strengthen cooperation with FIFA and give an impetus to the development of soccer in Turkmenistan.
Gianni Infantino is touring Central Asia, and prior to his stop in Turkmenistan, Infantino attended the eighth Central Asian Football Association Congress in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
During the working week, the FIFA president will also visit Kazakhstan (May 3), Kyrgyzstan (May 4-5), and Uzbekistan (May 5-6).
Gianni Infantino has been head of FIFA since 2016. On March 16 of this year, at the 73rd FIFA Congress in Kigali, Rwanda, he was re-elected for a second term, which will last until 2027.
