Construction of the Trade Center in the Turkmen-Uzbek border zone located in Dashoguz province will start in July 2023 and will be put into operation in July 2025. The relevant Decree was signed by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Friday at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan.
According to the document, the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations is authorized to conclude a contract with the repair and construction division of the Central Department of the Association of Consumer Societies subordinate to it to design and build a shopping center in the Turkmen-Uzbek border zone of Dashoguz province, with the improvement of the adjacent territory, including the laying of external engineering supply systems for communication, electricity, and water supply.
The agreement between the governments of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan “On the establishment and regulation of the Turkmen-Uzbek border trade zone – trade center” was signed on October 5, 2021.
On that same date, President Berdimuhamedov and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev gave a start to the construction of the Dashoguz-Horezm Border Trade Zone via video link during the opening of the Tashkent Park.
The construction of the Border Trade Zone is underway on the bordering territory of the two countries in the area of the Shavat-Dashoguz border crossing point. The governments plan to create modern infrastructure in the border trade zone, including trade pavilions, storage facilities, container sites.
