The National Institute for the Development of Korean Medicine (NIKOM) and the School of Korean Medicine of the Pusan National University have signed a business agreement in health and medicine with the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan. The document, signed on Tuesday at the 16th Forum of the Central Asia-Republic of Korea Cooperation Format in Ashgabat, provides for the establishment and operation of the Centre for Korean Medicine within one of Turkmenistan's clinics in October 2024.

According to the National Institute for the Development of Korean Medicine (NIKOM), the agreement encompasses several areas of cooperation. These include the exchange of modern technologies and scientific and practical information in the field of Korean medicine, the development and implementation of joint educational programs, cooperation in the advancement of healthcare and the medical industry, as well as the expansion of collaborative relationships to enhance healthcare and medical care in Turkmenistan. This agreement aims to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and expertise between the two parties to benefit healthcare development in Turkmenistan.

Following the signing of a business agreement between the National Institute for the Development of Korean Medicine (NIKOM) and the School of Korean Medicine of the Pusan National University, a series of activities are planned that include clinical training for Turkmenistan's medical personnel and the continuation of practical cooperation projects such as the industrialisation of traditional medicine between the two countries.

In August, Korean medicine experts visited Turkmenistan to discuss opportunities for cooperation in traditional medicine and health care with the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry. Following the meeting, the parties agreed to conclude a business agreement for future cooperation projects.
