Garabogaz Customs Post Reconstruction to Start in January 2024
Building of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.

The reconstruction of the Garabogaz customs post on the border of Turkmenistan with Kazakhstan will start in January 2024, the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan announced on Saturday.

The work on the reconstruction of this customs post will commence following the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan dated December 29, 2023.

As part of the project, it is planned to acquire and equip a new inspection and screening installation - an X-ray apparatus for vehicles.

The project aims to expand the territory of the border crossing point, re-equip it, and increase its capacity. The construction is planned to be completed by the end of 2024.

It is expected that the modernisation of the customs post will reduce the time required for customs procedures, which, in turn, will increase the number of goods passing through the post. At the same time, the new high-precision X-ray equipment will enable in-depth analysis of the quantity and quality of goods imported into Turkmenistan.
