Turkmenistan Signs Documents with UN Agencies

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on February 18, 2024 hosted a ceremony to sign a package of documents between the ministries, agencies, and public organizations of Turkmenistan and the representations of the United Nations entities in Turkmenistan – UNDP, UNFPA, UNICEF, as reported by the country's foreign ministry on Sunday.

Among the key documents were the signing of Work Plans for the implementation of the UNICEF Country Program for 2021-2025 between the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Office in Turkmenistan and various government bodies, including the ministries of economy and finance, health and medical industry, education, and labor and social protection.

Changes were also made to project documents between the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Office in Turkmenistan and the ministries of trade and foreign economic relations, finance and economy, health and medical industry, labor and social protection, and the State Customs Service.

During the ceremony, cooperation projects were signed between the UNDP Representation and relevant authorities of Turkmenistan, covering areas such as financial accounting development, improvement of external trade and transport statistics, strengthening the institutional capacity of the Ombudsman, and enhancing the capabilities of the Central Election Commission for conducting elections and referendums.

As part of the event, a Work Plan was signed between the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Physical Culture and Sports and UNFPA for 2024-2025, aimed at supporting physical culture and sports, reinforcing youth participation, promoting gender equality, and a plan between the Institute of State, Law, and Democracy of Turkmenistan and UNFPA for 2024-2025.
