South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol emphasized the importance of establishing direct air links between the two countries during the Turkmen-Korean Business Forum in Ashgabat on Tuesday, the official media of Turkmenistan reports.
Highlighting that Turkmenistan, which holds the fourth-largest natural gas reserves in the world, collaborates effectively with South Korea, a nation known for its advanced industrial technologies, Yoon advocated for accelerating economic cooperation, particularly in the energy sector.
“There are vast opportunities for effective partnership in the shipbuilding industry. South Korea has a powerful industrial potential in this sector. Currently, Korean and Turkmen engineers are jointly working on constructing multipurpose maritime vessels at the Balkan shipyard and ship repair plant,” Yoon said.
Noting that South Korea and Turkmenistan demonstrate a commitment to comprehensive constructive partnership, President Yoon expressed confidence that the business forum would strengthen the foundation for further development of traditional relations of friendship and cooperation.
On the same day, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, met with South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol.
