Turkmenistan and Iraq have signed an agreement for the supply of 20 million cubic meters of gas per day, Iraqi Energy Minister Ziyad Ali Fadel announced.
As reported by Turkmenistan’s official media on Monday, Fadel emphasized that this supply will significantly improve Iraq's power infrastructure by ensuring stable operations at gas-fired power plants.
The gas will be transported through Iran via a pipeline network in cooperation with Loxstone Energy. Fadel noted that the agreement is the result of more than a year of technical negotiations, including a memorandum of understanding.
During his visit to Baghdad, Turkmenistan’s State Minister Maksat Babayev also met with Iraq’s Oil Minister Hayyan Abdul Ghani. The two officials discussed opportunities for expanding cooperation in the oil and energy sectors.
