The Turkmen side signed the Technical Conditions for information exchange regarding preliminary data on goods and vehicles transported between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan. The document was approved on February 1, 2025, as reported by the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan.
Experts developed the conditions under the agreement signed on October 25, 2021, between the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan. The document defines the types of data to be transferred, the procedures, formats, methods, and regulations for exchanging information between the customs authorities of both countries.
The project will be implemented in two stages. The first stage plans a test launch of the system for exchanging export declarations, while the second stage focuses on transit declarations.
The provision of preliminary cargo information and automation of information exchange are expected to accelerate customs procedures and simplify the movement of goods between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.
The State Customs Service of Turkmenistan regulates the customs system, monitors compliance with international obligations, and combats smuggling. Established on November 4, 1991, the service modernizes customs legislation, updates infrastructure, and develops electronic customs clearance. Its structure includes a central office, a training center, six regional administrations, and 51 customs posts.
