Turkmenistan plans to put into operation about 500,000 square meters of residential space, schools for 4,620 students, and kindergartens for 2,000 children in 2025. President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov announced this during an expanded Cabinet of Ministers meeting on Friday, as reported by official media of Turkmenistan.

As part of the country’s socio-economic development and investment program for 2025, new residential complexes will begin construction in the capital and regions, and several projects will be completed. This year, the country plans to commission modern villages in the Öňaldy settlement of Ak Bugday District and Gowşut of Kaka District in Ahal Velayat, new settlements in the Gyzyl-Arbat District of Balkan Velayat, and a modern settlement in the Koneurgench District of Dashoguz Velayat.

Among major infrastructure projects are a road bridge across the Garabogazköl Bay in Balkan Velayat, an international air terminal complex in the village of Jebel in Balkan Velayat, and the Merv-Turkmenabat section of the high-speed Ashgabat-Turkmenabat highway. The construction of a higher education institution for the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan is also planned.

To improve the quality of life, significant funds will be allocated for the construction of highways, communication systems, water, gas, and energy supply networks, as well as wastewater treatment plants.

Turkmenistan will also host a series of international events in connection with the United Nations-declared International Year of Peace and Trust. The president instructed the preparation of proposals for awarding both national and foreign figures, as well as organizing celebrations for the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality.

During the government meeting, officials reviewed the performance of economic sectors for 2024, listened to reports from deputy prime ministers and ministry heads, and discussed key socio-economic development goals and personnel matters.
