During official visit of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Japan on Wednesday, a Framework Agreement was signed in Tokyo for the design, procurement, and turnkey construction of a second gas-to-gasoline plant in the Ahal velayat of Turkmenistan, as reported by Turkmenistan’s official media.

The agreement was concluded between the State Concern Türkmenhimiýa and a consortium that includes Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. (Japan), Rönesans Endüstri Tesisleri Inşaat Sanayi ve Ticaret Anonim Şirketi (Turkey), and Itochu Corporation (Japan).

The first similar plant for the production of gasoline from natural gas was built in Ovadan-Depe, also with the assistance of Japanese companies. The facility has a design capacity of 600,000 tons of A-92 gasoline (RON-92), 12,000 tons of purified diesel fuel, and 115,000 tons of liquefied gas per year, all meeting Euro-5 international standards.

In addition, a second framework agreement was signed between Türkmenhimiýa and another consortium including Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (Japan), Gap Inşaat (Türkiye), and Mitsubishi Corporation (Japan). The agreement outlines cooperation on the design, procurement, and turnkey construction of a urea production plant with a capacity of 1,155,000 tons per year in the town of Kiyanly, located in the Balkan velayat of Turkmenistan.
