The S.A. Nyyazov Chemical Plant in Turkmenabat produced 115,850 tons of sulfuric acid during the first five months of this year, the Türkmen Gündogary newspaper reported on Thursday.
According to the report, the plant also produced 11,297 tons of mineral fertilizers over the same period, including 5,227 tons of nitrogen-based and 6,070 tons of phosphorus-based fertilizers. The total value of output reached 118.8 million manats.
The plant’s chemical products are widely used in the country’s agricultural sector.
Recently, Turkmenistan's President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a resolution approving the construction of a new production complex at the facility. The planned complex will produce 350,000 tons of superphosphate and 100,000 tons of ammonium sulfate annually.
To implement the project, the state concern Türkmenhimiýa has been authorized to sign a contract with South Korea’s Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd.
