President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov has signed a decree to provide humanitarian aid to the people of Afghanistan affected by a recent earthquake, Turkmenistan’s official media reported on Thursday.
On behalf of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship, Turkmenistan will send essential supplies to Afghanistan, including medicines, food products, textiles, and other necessary goods.
According to the announcement, the aid is viewed as an act of solidarity and a step toward strengthening the friendly relations between the two countries.
A powerful earthquake struck eastern Afghanistan late on August 31. The quake had a magnitude of 6.2, with its epicenter located 50 kilometers from Jalalabad at a depth of 10 kilometers. It was followed by five aftershocks. The tremors were felt across a wide area—from Kabul to the Pakistani capital, Islamabad—according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre.
