Kazakhstan plans to accelerate the supply of Turkmen vegetables to the domestic market, with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin instructing authorities to promptly establish “green corridors” at border checkpoints.
The measure is aimed at ensuring stable and rapid imports of tomatoes and cucumbers at affordable prices to regions across the country, the press service of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan reported on Saturday.
Imports of Turkmen tomatoes exceeded 30,000 tons this year, making them the second-largest item in the structure of Turkmen supplies to Kazakhstan.
Trade turnover in agricultural products between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan reached $103 million in the first nine months of the year, up 37.5% compared with the same period last year.
