UNICEF’s country office in Turkmenistan on Thursday presented the regional report Generation 2050 in Central Asia and a special country annex on Turkmenistan, UNICEF said.

The event brought together representatives of the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the Mejlis and key social sector institutions to discuss how strategic investments in children can contribute to the country’s long-term development.

The report provides a roadmap for harnessing Turkmenistan’s demographic potential from the present through 2050.

According to the study, prioritizing quality education, health care and social protection could generate an additional 9% in economic growth by 2050. Such investments would help prepare future generations to address modern challenges, including climate change and changes in the global economy.

UNICEF, the U.N. Children’s Fund, works with governments and partners worldwide to help ensure every child’s full development and a sustainable future for societies.
