A new mineral fertilizer complex at the Turkmenabat chemical plant named after S.A. Niyazov will implement the Industry 4.0 concept, under which chemical processes will be managed using artificial intelligence.

Turkmenistan’s state media reported Thursday that the approach will help reduce the impact of the human factor and ensure greater precision in the composition of chemical compounds. The introduction of Industry 4.0 is expected to transform the plant from a traditional industrial facility into a high-tech production center connected to the global digital ecosystem.

At the “smart” facility, industrial internet technologies and Big Data analytics will enable real-time monitoring of phosphate fertilizer production, reduce the consumption of raw materials and electricity, and help prevent production disruptions.

The plant, together with the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, is also conducting research to develop products that not only nourish plants but also help prevent soil salinization and improve soil structure.

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov launched construction of the new complex in October 2025. The facility is designed to produce 350,000 tons of superphosphate and 100,000 tons of ammonium sulfate annually.
