Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Invites Uzbekistan’s President to Summits in Turkmenistan

Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, during a phone call with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, informed him about important summits scheduled for this fall — a consultative meeting of Central Asian and Azerbaijani heads of state and a summit of CIS member-state leaders — and invited the Uzbek president to visit Turkmenistan with a high-level delegation, official Turkmen media reported Friday.

The summits are expected to provide a thorough exchange of views on a wide range of current issues, and major cultural and humanitarian events are planned as part of both forums.

The sides noted the productive work of the Turkmen-Uzbek Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical, and Cultural Cooperation.

Berdimuhamedov and Mirziyoyev stressed the importance of further developing ties in science and education and confirmed their readiness to continue cultural exchanges, hold mutual Culture Days, joint art festivals, and other collaborative events.

The sides exchanged warm congratulations on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr and the upcoming Nowruz holiday, wishing each other good health, success in state activities, and peace and prosperity for the peoples of both countries.

The phone call was initiated by the Turkmen side.
